Mrs. Katy Atzberger ANATD LNATD BSc (hons)
KtS Dance is led by Katy Atzberger (nee Stangroom), a professional dancer from Norwich, England.
Miss Katy trained at the Anglia Region Theatre School (A.R.T.S), gaining Associate and Licentiate qualifications in Modern, Tap, Ballet and Disco/Freestyle and Street. She is currently training towards her Fellowship examinations with the aim of becoming an Examiner herself.
On successful completion of a BSc (honours) degree at the University of Lincoln Miss Katy embarked on her professional dance career performing worldwide on-board several cruise liners, as well as working as a character/parade dancer at Disneyland Resort Paris and various casino and theatre tours throughout the UK, Greece and Slovenia, including the Lady Legends UK Tour in aid of the NSPCA in 2009.
During her career Katy maintained strong links with Norfolk, teaching and choreographing both freelance and for A.R.T.S.
Choreography work includes local pantomimes for Saxlingham and Onward Players, Age Concern shows in Yarmouth and Spalding, cabarets throughout the UK, including her own dance troupe Hot Heels, shows in London (including Sadlers Wells, Her Majesty’s Theatre and The Royal Albert Hall), Disneyland Resort Paris, Port Aventura themepark in Barcelona and for production shows and cabarets on-board cruise ships.
Katy has led dance and musical theatre workshops in schools and as part of the holiday programmes for South Norfolk, Broadland District and Norfolk County Councils and has had the pleasure of choreographing the 'first dance' for the weddings of many couples both in Norfolk and London.
After a successful Norfolk tour performing in ‘West End to Broadway’ with The Tigerlilys, including a solo role as The White Cat in Cats, Katy bid a fond farewell to Norwich and moved to South West London in 2011.
Since being in London Katy has taught for Chelsea Ballet Schools, The Laird Academy, The Stephanie Rossiter School of Dance, Vacani School of Dance and The Siegeris School of Dance, as well as private lessons, hen parties and children’s parties across London. She has also provided Breakfast clubs for Primary Schools in association with SportStart UK.
Previous pupils have successfully auditioned for the Junior and Mid-Associate programmes and for White Lodge at The Royal Ballet School as well as Tring, The Brit School, Bodyworks, LIPA, The Place, Laban, Bird College and performances with The English Youth Ballet and professional productions including Oliver!, Miss. Saigon and Les Miserables. Others are now dancing professionally all over the world.
Katy has trained Disco/Freestyle pupils to Student and Associate levels, with 100% gaining Highly Commended.
Miss Katy’s aim is to nurture talent and develop technique whilst providing a happy and fun environment in which pupils can enjoy dance and parents can enjoy seeing the smiles on their children’s faces.
Miss Rosy Nevard (Central School of Ballet)
Rosy trained at Central School of ballet graduating in 2010. She worked with Stephen Pelton Dance Theatre for 5 months before joining The London Ballet Company as a founding dancer and remained for 5 years dancing many lead roles in their original ballets. Alongside, she has taken part in dance projects across the UK and abroad, travelling to Los Angeles, Egypt, Spain, Morrocco, Germany and Denmark to name a few! Other performance credits includes backing dancer for Basement Jaxx and for Beyoncé on a TV special in 2011. Music video credits including artists Daisy Victoria, I am Harlequin and Jason Kouchack. She has also performed in several large scale events including London Olympic Ceremony 2012, Champions League Final at Wembley and Bernabeu Stadium Madrid.
Since leaving TLBC in March 2016, Rosy has gone on to form 2 dance related businesses - HIRE-A-DANCER.CO.UK is an entertainment agency providing dancers for all kinds of events across London and beyond, and Nova Grace Productions aims to bring dance to a wider audience through workshops and performances. Rosy is also a very experienced and passionate teacher, teaching at various London ballet schools for the past decade with many students achieving exams with Distinctions. She has also been invited as a guest teacher to several pre-professional summer schools and for the prestigious Cecchetti Scholars, as well as teaching abroad in Los Angeles and Uganda.
She is also a professional pointe shoe fitter and works with Dancia International in London.
Miss Rosy is currently advancing her professional training with the ISTD Ballet DDE (Dance Diploma in Education).
Miss Rosy is a kind and extremely professional teacher and KtS Dance are delighted to have her onboard as our Head Ballet teacher.
Miss Beth Mackinnon BA (Hons) RAD RTS
Beth started learning ballet, tap and modern at the age of three and developed a passion for teaching when she started assisting at a local school aged 14. She proceeded to teach at a number of schools in the Chichester area whilst studying Dance at Chichester College.
After college, Beth went on to study Ballet Education at the prestigious Royal Academy of Dance (RAD), whilst continuing her vocational training in Jazz/Modern and Tap dance alongside her academy training.
During her studies she continued to develop her teaching experience in all genres of dance by working for a number of dance schools in and around London, covering both free- and syllabus- work as well as preparing pupils for exams and choreographing for shows and events.
Beth attained her Advanced Ballet qualification before graduating from the RAD with a BA (Hons) Degree in Ballet Education and Registered Teacher Status.
Since January 2017, Miss Beth has thoroughly enjoyed teaching a variety of dance styles to pupils of all ages and ability and has been bringing her fresh and vibrant approach to KtS Dance since 2018.
In September 2021, Miss Beth took time off from her regular teaching position to train as a Primary School teacher. We are delighted to now have her back regular as our KtS Saturday teacher as well.
Miss Chelsea Irvin ANATD
Chelsea began dancing at the age of 7, taking classes in Freestyle, Modern and Tap here at KtS Dance, and it wasn't long before dancing became her passion!
She has achieved success in her dance exams achieving Distinctions/Highly Commended and High Merits at all grades up to, and including, Student and Gold Bar level in Freestyle and Intermediate Foundation (Student) Tap.
Chelsea was invited by MIss Katy to become a Student Teacher, helping with younger classes under the direction of Miss Rachael, Miss Eve and later with Miss Rosy and Miss Beth and, under Miss Katy's private tutorage, became a qualified Modern Freestyle teacher with the National Association of Teachers of Dancing (NATD). She is currrently working towards her Intermediate and Associate Tap qualificaitons.
It is with special thanks to Miss Eve and Miss Emily who further supported Chelsea through dance in education classes teaching both theoretical and vocational dance.
Chelsea has performed with the school numerous times at Mictham Carnival and took a leading role in our first theatre production in July 2022 as the Rat King but it is through teaching and sharing her love of dance with the younger pupils where she shines.
During her spare time you'll always find Chelsea listening to music and choreographing new routines and she works hard to develop her teaching skills through additional courses in various styles. Chelsea has successfully gained an Entry level 3 Award in the Arts with Trinity College London as well as Professions in Sport and Level Two certificate in Performing Arts from OCNLR (all Ofqual regulated).
Hvaing grown up with the school, Chelsea is delighted to now be part of the teaching team at KtS Dance. She currently teaches Tap and Popdance classes, is our cover teacher for Pre-Ballet, Preliminary Ballet and all Saturday classes and Assistant Teacher for Friday and Saturday.
Miss Chelsea has also worked as a classroom assistant and dance teacher within PE and for lunch and after-school clubs at a number of local schools. She is currently assistant dance coach at Cricket Green School, Green Arts Centre and teaching dance as part of the curriculam and school clubs at St Thomas of Canterbury Primary School.
Miss Emily Watkins (BA(hons) Dance and Musical Theatre)
Emily trained in Dance and Musical Theatre at London Studio Centre after completing a degree at Exeter University. Since graduating she has performed in various shows around the country, including Thoroughly Modern Millie at the Adelphi Theatre, Fame at the ADC Theatre in Cambridge and pantomimes at The Marlowe Theatre, Canterbury and Fairfield Halls, Croydon.
Emily has always loved working with children and is passionate about teaching and sharing her love of dance with the younger generation.
She has experience teaching tap at Dance Attic in Fulham Broadway and at Exeter University to students of varying ages and abilities. She teaches dance and drama regularly in London and has been a Cover teacher for KtS Dance for the last few years.
Miss Emily joined the KtS Team in September 2021, whilst Miss Beth concentrated on her primary school studies. She helped prepare choroegraphy for our very successful show in 2022 and we are delighted that she is staying on as Cover Teacher.
Eve Graham AISTD DDI
Eve is a young and energetic teacher who is passionate about sharing her love of dance with students of all ages. She first put on her dancing shoes when she started ballet class at the age of three and has never taken them off since. She can usually be found in the studio, working on new choreography and trying out the latest tracks.
Classically trained in Imperial Ballet, Modern Theatre and Tap dance, Eve gained her Diploma in Dance Instruction and Associate qualifications under the tutelage of ISTD senior examiner Cathy Russell at Dance Teachers Inc. She is currently working towards her Diploma in Dance Education and Licentiate.
Eve has taught a variety of styles at schools across South London and Surrey including Dance Unlimited, Wimbledon Village School of Ballet, Holy Cross and Ewell Castle Schools and regularly enters students into exams with great success. A veteran of dance school displays, Eve loves the buzz of show time and particularly enjoyed sharing this exciting time with the KtS dancers during their Carnival performances.
Miss Eve was the Saturday School and Monday Popdance teacher at KtS from 2015 to 2018 and we are happy that has stayed on board to help out with cover when needed. She is currently running private classes with our Student Teachers helping them train towards becoming Associates.
Miss Isabelle Pardoe, Diploma in Professional Musical Theatre
Issy trained in Musical Theatre at Performers College in Essex. Since graduating she has performed professionally as a singer and dancer all over the country.
Her theatre credits include, Dancer/Singer for Spirit Productions, Dancer at Move It!, Ensemble for Cinderella with Magic Beans Productions and as Dandini in Cinderella for PMA Productions. She has also played the role of Belle in Princess Spectacular for Ever After Entertainment. As a singer she has performed for BBC Radio 2's Friday Night.
Issy is an expereinced and dynamic teacher having taught for various schools in and around London, including regular Musical Theatre classes for Dance Unlimited in Cheam. As a triple threat performer she is the perfect cover teacher and has already stepped in to cover Ballet, Street/Disco and our Saturday School at KtS Dance as well as successfully launching our Monday Ballet and Popdance After-School club at St. Mark's Primary School.
Miss Emily Hughes-Lewis ARAD BA(hons)
Born in Wales, Emily trained in Ballet West School, Scotland for three years attaining a BA degree in Classical Ballet and Dance Performance. Whilst in Scotland, Emily studied to the highest level of the RAD, achieved Advanced II with Distinction and went on to compete in the Semi-Finals of the prestigious Genee International Ballet Competition held in South Africa 2011.
Emily worked with Ballet West Company during and after her training and performed soloist roles in their international tours to China twice with repertoires such as 'The Nutcracker' and 'Romeo and Juliet' dancing the role of Romeo's gypsy, Juliet's friend, as well as 'Big Swan' in their 2012 tour of 'Swan Lake'.
Emily's TV and Film credits include promotional films for Newport filming industry as well as Pure Gym advertisements. Emily was chosen to dance alongside Darcey Bussell in the Olympic Ceremonies 2012. In the same year, Emily gained a contract with The London Ballet Company and has been cast with soloist roles in many of their theatre productions and bespoke events as well as dancing with Migrations Company, Wales.
Emily's recent success has been joining 'Make a Difference Theatre' as a TIE actress.
To supplement her professional career, Emily has taught dance to age groups from 3 years upward for many London schools.
Her recent work involves funding 'North Wales Dance Workshops' in her home town where she has successfully organised, taught and managed each workshop with children aged 8-18 with a very positive response throughout the community.
Miss Emily believes in the importance of the performing arts for children's development. "It teaches children an understanding of their own body and helps them express themselves in a fun and creative environment". Emily thinks it is vital to incorporate her own experiences that she gains from dancing with professional cmpanies to help the students reach their individual goals successfully.
Miss Emily was the regular Friday KtS Ballet Teacher from September 2014-August 2017 before moving back to Wales to further her studies as a Physiotherapist. Miss Emily will be back from time to time to run special workshops.
Miss Rachael Hale (equity name Rachael Russell) trained at the North London Dance Studio.
Rachael and Miss Katy first met when performing together on-board the MV Mistral for Festival Cruises and later went on to dance on-board the MV Atalante before setting sail in different directions.
Rachael has since worked for Morag Productions (MV Asuka), Saga, Princess Cruises with Sixth Star Productions and most recently sailing out of Australia with Grayboy Entertainment where she was Dance Captain.
Whilst living in London Rachael has played the lead-role of Cassie in Mayhem Musical Theatre Company's production of A Chorus Line and also choreographed their all children performance of Alice in Wonderland. As a member of Carpe Diem Dance Company Rachael performed in a Contemporary performance of Lord of the Flies at The Lost Theatre in Battersea and popular ballet Coppelia, as well as regular gigs with The Gatsby Girls and LE Entertainment.
Miss Rachael is a qualified teacher with the ISTD and continues to perform professionally throughout the UK and abroad, always making time for KtS Dance classes and workshops whenever she can.
She is currently enjoying success in Australia having recently starred in Chicago and A Chorus Line!
All teachers are fully DBS Checked and Insured with Safeguarding and First Aid knowledge and training.
